Some Basic Guidelines
Rule number one is to always, always be consistent. No matter which of the aggressive puppy training techniques you choose to use, stick with it. Also, never slap your puppy in the face or scream at it in rage. This will only serve to frighten the puppy and could have the opposite effect. Dog behaviorists say that you should do what puppies do when something is hurting them, yelp! Or, say ouch to let the puppy know that hurts. When the puppy lets go it is essential that you immediately praise him/her and give lots of love and warm fuzzies.
Redirect Puppies Attention
Another proven technique that only takes a few days to master is to give the puppy something else to chew on besides you! A chew toy is the best redirect technique in the world. If puppy is in an overly playful mood and trying to nip and chew at you, give it a chew toy! Remember, do NOT play tug-a-war or any chasing games at this point in puppies training. The idea is to get the puppy to let go, no lock on and bit harder. (This is especially important for pit bull puppies - never ever train a pit to tug as they already latch on by nature.)
Some people use a spray bottle with water in it to startle the puppy into letting go while others use a shaker can with pennies or tiny gravel rocks in it. Once the puppy lets go you need to praise it immediately. Be consistent in any aggressive puppy training you choose to utilize and within just a matter of days you will be on the road to a well behaved puppy. However, there is one word of caution that you should pay careful attention to. If you are consistent in your aggressive puppy training and puppy does not seem to get the picture, it is time for a professional trainer.
